Wendy McCarthy presented the 25th Pamela Denoon Lecture in 2014. You can view this or find the text for most previous speakers on this site.
The PDL lecture is held in March in conjunction with International Women’s Day and presented at the Australian National University. Over recent years the lecture has been recorded and broadcast by ABC radio’s ‘Big Ideas’ and last year it was taped by Canberra Live and can be viewed online. The lecture attracts a regular audience of 300 and over the last two years there have been closer to 500 people in attendance.
This is a wonderful platform to educate, inspire action, and to promote the advancement of women and women’s rights. Each year the committee work through a process to select the forthcoming speaker and we are now putting out a call for suggestions for both speakers and/or hot topics. We hope to make a decision by November-December 2014. The criteria for selection::
– someone who has a national profile;
– someone who is known to be a feminist;
– someone who works for & speaks out on the advancement of women & women’s rights;
– someone who is a good speaker.
